9 Days: Safari based on mid range tented camp/ in North Tanzania

Day 2: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

After Breakfast around 8:00 am Drive to Lake Manyara National Park (approximately two hours) for full game driving, Visit Lake Manyara National Park, home of giant fig trees, acacia woodlands, mahogany trees and grassy flood plains.

The contrasts of this area are simply breathtaking, with the open plains, huge escarpment, Soda Lake, dense woodlands, and distance volcanic peaks coming together in an area best described by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa” Animals such as elephants, hippos, impala, giraffe, warthog, wildebeest, blue monkeys and buffalo all roam the park’s territory.

The park is also home to the famous tree climbing lions and a small population of leopard. Lake Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life with over 400 species having been recorded within the parks boundaries. Day 3: After late breakfast drive from Wildlife tented camp at Lake Manyara National park to Lake Natron; dinner and overnight at Eileen’s Tree Inn

Day 4: Lake Natron

Early in the morning you take the Flamingo tour on the shore of Lake Natron (0.5hrs drive) to see their breeding sights then return to the camp for lunch and visit the Engaresero River waterfalls later in the afternoon begins to drive from Lake Natron to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Eileen’s Tree Inn

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park through Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with optional visit to Olduvai Gorge. At first light you will visit a Masai Boma where you will experience the rhythm of this nomadic tribe’s daily life.

(Game viewing en-route) The Serengeti ecosystem is a vast area with no fences, including then plains of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area as well as the Serengeti National Park itself and home to the largest migration in the world. This annual wildebeest migration is tied to the seasonal rains so the timing is hard to predict exactly, Combined with the Masai Mara and the Ngorongoro Conservation area it protects the most varied and greatest collection of wildlife on earth. With the Big Five, the Small Five and extensive amounts of wildlife, this region offers arguably the best wildlife viewing in the world.

Dinner and overnight at Serengeti TWC Katikati Tented Camp

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

Today you will wake up for Breakfast then Full day game viewing in Serengeti with all meals and overnight at the Serengeti TWC Katikati Tented Camp

Day 7: Early game-drive in Serengeti National Park, Then Mid noon drives to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge

Day 8: Ngorongoro Cater

After early breakfast, with picnic lunch, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for game viewing till late noon before driving out of the park, Today you will be rewarded with a visit to the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. The Ngorongoro Crater is famous for Africa’s best game viewing as there is an ever present abundance of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor.

Upon arrival at the Crater’s rim we descend 610 meters into the Crater where our safari begins. Spot the endangered black rhino, black mined lions, giant tusked elephants, zebra, buffalo and wildebeest. Along the shores of Soda Lake we will find many species of birds including flamingos. All these animals in turn support large predators such as lion and leopard, and scavengers such as hyena and jackals sightings. In late afternoon or evening hours ascend and proceed to Mto wa Mbu for Dinner and overnight at Fig Tree Camp

Day 9: Mto wa Mbu-Tarangire National Park

After breakfast with your picnic lunch, drive to Tarangire National park for game viewing, Witness the elephants and centenaries old baobab trees of Tarangire, Tarangire National Park covers 2,600 square kilometers and at dry times, the concentration of animals rivals that of the much better known Serengeti – the game numbers are staggering: 30,000 zebra, 25,000 wildebeest, 5,000 buffalo, 3,000 elephant, 2,500 Masai giraffe and over 1,000 fringe-eared Oryx (gemsbok).

Predators include lion, cheetah and leopard. These pools are shared by flocks of birds: green wood hoopoes, fisher lovebirds, tallish herons, white bellied go-away birds and giant kingfishers. After this fabulous experience, you will leave the wildlife behind you and return to Arusha where you WILL enjoy your last safari meal. Depending on your plans you may stay a night or transfer to the airport for onward flight. Overnight at Mc- Elly’s hotel, Arusha
