Overview

Mahale mountains national park lies on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Kigoma region, west of the country named after the Mahale mountains range that is within its borders. The major features of the park are to protect those chimps in the country as it’s close to Gombe national park. Here you can see the park through trekking on foot as there is no road developed for game drives as the most parks in Tanzania.

 

Detailed itinerary

DAY 1: PICK UP AT KIGOMA TOWN THEN TRANSFER TO MAHALE PARK

Our guide will pick you up at Kigoma town then transfer to Mahale national park it dominated by Mahale Mountains the highest peak being Mount Nkungwe that raises to 2462m above the sea level. Mahale Park is home to over 82 species of animals and about 355spicies of birds, 26 reptiles. Lunch will be taken upon arrival then relax till dinner and overnight at government Guest House.

 

DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND ANIMAL SEEING

 

Mahale National Park

After the breakfast you will go for chimpanzee trekking till afternoon where you can do more excursion to spot variety of animals and primates like giant forest squirrel, bush tailed porcupine, Angolan black and white colabus monkeys, bush-tailed mongoose, blue duiker, warthogs, sable antelopes, red rock hare and more. Birds like open billed spoonbill, crested cranes, pelicans and paradise flycatchers until sunset wilderness in Mahale then dinner and overnight stay at government guest house.

 

 

 

 

DAY 3: MORNING BREAKFAST AND BACK TO KIGOMA

 

After breakfast we take a bout up to Mgambo/ Lagosa where we will take our car to Kigoma town our guide will drop you at Kigoma town for lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel
